~FORT WORTH CATS~
minor league baseball team

Yesterday we took Joshie to his first real baseball game. We went with Joshie's uncle Jay and Kristine. (BTW...her first baseball game also!) His first one we took him to he was only 6 weeks old and it was to see the Angels play the Rangers.

We didn't take him to see the Rangers we went to see the minor league team here in Fort Worth. They are called the Cats. Josh got us some really good seats. We where in the front row behind home plate right next to the dug out for the other team, who was the Pensacola Pelicans (why do minor league teams have such lame names!! :o)) One of the guys on the Pelicans, his name was Francisco Leandro. He was so cool! We got there about an hour early to watch the guys warm up. Francisco Leandro saw Joshie watching them and calling them "baseball guys." He came over to Joshie and gave him one of their baseballs and signed it for him!! It was so cool!! To bad major league players aren't like that.

His first Angel game - 6 weeks old

This is the guy who gave him the baseball

Got to show Angel pride!!!!

And this one is just a ham infront of the camera!!!

~MOMMY ON DOWN TIME~

Well for everyone who doesn't know yet...i had to have my appendix removed on Monday. What a horrible experience, but luckily we made it in time!!

Sunday evening i started feeling horrible sharp pains in my stomach and kind of brushed it off as maybe food posioning. Then when it wasnt going away i started thinking that maybe i was pregnant again. I had really bad pains in stomach when i was pregnant with Reese and was in the hospital for 3 days trying to figure out what it was. Anyway, i ended up sleeping in the recliner...well i dont think i even slept for 10 minutes straight the whole night. The next day wasnt any better. Trying to take care of both of the kids when i could barely walk and the pain was worse then labor pains!!!!

Well we ended up in the ER at Medical Center in Arlington. They did blood work and we found out i wasnt pregnant (we both looked at eachother with the biggest sigh of relief and the doctor just kind of laughed at us) so i was able to have some great pain medication.

Once they realized that it was my appendix i was in surgery about 4 o'clock that afternoon. WHAT A WONDERFUL WAY TO START THE WEEK!!!

I am very thankful for a couple of things.....1. my family is on vacation and i was trying and trying to find ways for me and the kids to go with them....crazy how things work out!!! 2. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to my mother in law!!! She has been here since Monday morning helping out with the kids. If she wasnt here i have no idea what we would be doing!!

REESE'S EYE APPOINTMENT

Ever since Reese has been born she has had a clogged tear duct. Joshua had the same thing when he was born so i really knew what to expect with it. Lots of gross, enormous eye boogers!!!!! Which i will admit...i LOVE picking at. Reese didn't mind in the beginning, but when she was about 3 months old she started hating me digging in her eye every 5 minutes.

So when her 6 month check came around and her eye wasn't any better the doctor told me that i had to take her to the eye specialist. My doctor told me that they will start out with some steroid drops for her eye to see if the clog with go away with that. Then if it doesn't then they have to unclog it themselves with a catheter down her tear duct...DON'T THINK SO!!!

So anyway her appointment was this last Thursday. Thankfully it was the day before the 4Th and Josh's boss told them they could leave after lunch. So luckily he was able to go with us. We finally get in to see the doctor and he starts going over what he wants to do with her eye. He said we could do the eye drops for about 6 months and then if it didn't work by the time she was 11 months old they would have to put her to sleep to unclog it. They said the best thing to do is to just unclog it in the doctors office. SOUNDS SIMPLY RIGHT??!!!!

Well i guess i am the idiot...i thought a catheter was as big as a piece of string....WRONG. Well what they do is they strap her on to a stretcher (the board that the paramedics use) and then strap her hands down and one doctor holds her head and the other one does the procedure. They say they numb it but i don't think it works. This catheter is about the size of a crochet needle. You all know how big that is????? Well they stick a needle down her tear duct to open it up and then the catheter. Well Reese got to the point of screaming where i don't think that a sound was coming out. I didn't watch but Josh did and he said her lips where turning purple from screaming so much. I was crying with my back turned. I swear it felt like it lasted about 45 minutes but the whole thing from start to finish lasted only 2 minutes.

I will say since that appointment i haven't had to wipe her eye once!!!!!! Also i will never do that again. If we have another child and the same thing happens to them i will opt for the surgery. I know they don't remember what happen to them but i do and it was awful!!!!!!!!!!
